The film picks up 10 years after the events of the first movie, with Rick and Evelyn married and expecting their first child. However, their happiness is short-lived, as they soon discover that the Scorpion King (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), a powerful and ruthless warrior, is resurrected from the dead. The Scorpion King's awakening sets off a chain of events that leads to the return of the mummy, Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), who seeks to reclaim his lost love, Meela (Peta Wilson).
