"The Martian" is based on Andy Weir's bestselling novel of the same name. The story follows Mark Watney (played by Matt Damon), a NASA astronaut who is part of the Ares III mission to Mars. During a fierce storm, Watney is separated from his crew and presumed dead. However, Watney miraculously survives and finds himself stranded on the Martian surface with limited supplies.
