In recent years, India has witnessed a surge in social media scandals, with the MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) scandal being one of the most notorious. The Indian girl school hostel MMS scandal, which surfaced in 2012, shocked the nation and brought to light the dark underbelly of desi (local) media and its implications on Indian society. This paper aims to examine the scandal, its aftermath, and the role of desi media in perpetuating the controversy.
